A Brief Interlude

09 Aug

WelcomeBlog

Since the site seems to be getting repeat visits from some countries even when I don’t post anything on any of the really big blogs with international reach I can only assume that a few intrepid folks are actually coming back on their own occasionally, and I wanted to take a moment to say thanks to them and to repeat my “welcome” speech.

To the Swedes: Välkommen till alla mina nya besökare från Sverige! Mina farföräldrar kom från Sverige i slutet av 1800-talet, men tyvärr talar jag inte svenska. Jag hoppas att du tycker om min webbplats. (Thanks to Risto of Rikstone Amps for translating that for me.)

To the French: Bienvenu à mon site; désolé à cause de mon minable français, ce qui est une langue que j’adore mais que je ne parle que maladroitement. Heureusement vous parlez anglais et je ne tâche pas de l’écrire en français, donc tout s’arrange. 🙂

To the Dutch, who all seem to speak English anyway, thanks to their excellent educational system (and because I don’t speak Dutch, LOL), Google Translate tells me to say this, which I hope is not too insulting: Welkom, en dank u voor het bezoeken van mijn website. Gelieve zeg hallo!

And of course, those of you in the UK, Canada and Australia who have come back are more than welcome, too. Thanks for making it more interesting to post these things!

I have spent time in all of these countries except Sweden and the UK, which is ironic, given that my great-grandparents came to America in the 1880s from Sweden, and given that English is my native language.

I should also say thank you in large letters to the Americans who come back for repeat visits. Presumably we all speak the same language, although our accents sure aren’t all the same.

And to the truly energetic visitor from Japan who was responsible for 69 views of my site in one day, only to never return, I can only say: WTF?

Welcome to visitors from even farther away, too.

Welcome to visitors from even farther away, too.

Yeah, the really ‘out there’ foreign visitors are usually spam-bots. I get a lot from China and Russian. Those credit card ads with the Russian guys isn’t far off the mark. LOL

Well, I had to use Google Translate to understand that, but thanks! Usually there are at least some cognates I can get (“intressant” is almost exactly the same as the French “intéressant”) but the rest was impossible for me to figure out, although now that I know the gist of the message I can see a couple of words I should have been able to guess. But I really don’t speak any Swedish at all, which is a shame; I wish my Swedish were as good as your English! I’m super pleased that you like the blog, and yes, come back for more; I’m already working on the next post.

Quick translation… Thank u Mr.T,,,I think/find yr blog very interesting, (I) return when time allows.
I sit in an office all day & feed the matrix, when time allows I like to read blogs, etc that fortify my search for simple truth.

Thanks, maxhomer. I should have said in my earlier reply that “the rest was impossible for me to figure out WITHOUT GOOGLE TRANSLATE”. It looks like their version was pretty accurate, but thanks for putting it in English so the other English speakers here can understand it. I’m all for simple truth…unless it comes to the P-Files, LOL.
